A meeting of consultants on safety on board fishing vessels, jointly convened in 1974 by the FAO, ILO & IMO, recommended that the three organizations should continue to co-operate with a view to establishing voluntary guidelines for the designe, construction and equipment of vessels of less than 24 mts in length.
